WELCOME

IMG_0520Welcome to our website! My name is Rodney and I am the Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church. I have had the privilege of starting a new church in Rouzerville, Pennsylvania. Rouzerville is a small community 5 minutes east of downtown Waynesboro PA. In the Bible we find a commission given to the first church that Jesus started with His followers, and that commission was passed down to the churches that have been established since. We study the Word of God (The Bible) seeking to do things the way Jesus taught the first Church to do them. The Bible is our final authority on all matters concerning the growth of Jesus’ Church and ultimately our lives. Life is a journey, let’s make the most of it!

God started His first Church with His followers who were believers in Jesus. His followers were eyewitness to many powerful teachings and miracles that Jesus had done in His Three-and-a-half years of personal ministry on this earth. We find that the church Jesus started was given tasks to follow until He returned to earth and we have that same task today.

We are to carry out the Great Commission found in several of the Gospel written accounts.
Matthew 28:18: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matthew 28:19: ¶Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The first thing we are to teach is the Gospel.

The word ‘Gospel’ simply means, Good News! The good news is that Jesus Christ, the Holy Son of God, came to this Earth, lived a perfect life, and died on a cross to pay for the sins of the world so that we would not have to. I can’t imagine anyone would be ungrateful to have a debt paid for them, right? Well, the debt of each person ever born owes for their sin is death and separation from God eternally in a place reserved for the devil. Most people know this place as hell. When we reject God we must pay the wages for our sins and the Bible calls that death. Romans 3:23 tells us “the wages of Sin is death” but the good news is that the second part of the verse tells us “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

Jesus can offer us Eternal life because He paid the required price to redeem us from our sins. He died on that Cross because He loves you. But I haven’t given you the whole story yet. Jesus died on the cross and was buried in a tomb, but death and the grave could not hold Him. After three full days and three full nights, Jesus rose again from the grave. Jesus conquered death and is alive.

The message the Bible has for you is that if you believe the Gospel you can be saved. You can receive Jesus as Saviour simply by praying in your heart to Him. Something like this:

‘Dear Jesus I believe that you died for my sins and was buried and rose again from the grave. I ask that you would forgive my sins and come into my heart and save me. Thank you Jesus for saving my soul, Amen!’

Remember it is not the words that save but the heart crying out to God in repentance.

After being saved God desires for you to come and know Him better, so He designed the church. The bible gives us this description of what a church does when they meet together.

Acts 2:42: And they [Jesus Followers] continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

1. The Church studied the Word of God together. (The Apostles’ Doctrine)

2. The Church spent time together in fellowship.

3. The Church broke bread together. There are two meanings of breaking bread in the bible. One is eating together (and yes, we do that) and two, there is communion. Communion is an intimate time for church members to meet and worship God and remember what He has done for us on the cross.

4. The Church met together to pray. We pray in every service, and we also have a service on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm where we come together for the purpose of prayer. Everyone is welcome in all of our services, and if you can’t be there on Wednesday please leave a prayer request here on our page and we will put it on our prayer list and we WILL pray for you. You do not have to give all the details if you would like to keep the prayer private. Just write a first name or unspoken, God knows what we need before we even ask.

I hope that this information was helpful in answering some questions about our church. We desire to have a church in Rouzerville/Waynesboro that is a lighthouse to all that pass by.

Thanks for visiting, please feel free to be our guest in the future!

In Christ’s service,

Rodney Burdette
